Three marijuana myths that are total B.S and the research that proves it!

If it wasn’t for all the hard work that the Cannabis community has put in to legalization, we would still be surrounded by propaganda. Since medical marijuana laws have allowed new research, science has debunked a lot of myths. The myths listed here are just the tip of the iceberg, I’m sure there is more to come, but let's get started!

Myth # 1 : Legalization will lead to higher abuse rate amongst teens

Out of all the myths, this one happens to be the most studied and researched. So what were these studies so popular? It seems a lot of groups, from pharmaceutical interests to anti-pot political parties considered this to be the smoking gun. I can imagine the headline, “Marijuana Reform is Turning Children into Addicts!”. Well, the data has been collected, recollected and triple check. It turns out, states that have legalized pot, even for recreational use have seen no spike for that age group. Great, the pot prohibition proponents are totally out of gas and we couldn’t be happier.

Myth # 2 : Smoking weed causes Over eating and leads to obesity

Ok. so we all kind of know where this came from, got the Munchies? Ok, so smoking weed does kind of make you eat a little more than you normally might, while high. That doesn’t necessarily lead to weight gain. Research done at the Quebec University has found that regular marijuana users actually have a lower BMI than average. It doesn't end there, the British Medical Journal has actually reported that Cannabis users are at a lower risk of developing diabetes. This study also backs previous research from the American Journal of Epidemiology. Binge eating and losing weight at the same dam time!

Myth # 3 : Cannabis is a gateway drug

Yeah sure, I can probably name 20 people that have only smoked weed their entire lives. We knew this was bull from the beginning, but science always wants to take things to the next level. So, hundreds of thousands of tax dollars later, what did they find?

You guessed, Pot smokers like pot and don’t really care much for the hard stuff. In fact, if a regular user is unable to obtain some bud, they just wait till they can. There is no substituting marijuana, als the longer you have been a regular user, the less likely you are to substitute with alcohol or other drugs.

Lets but another nail into this myths coffin. Marijuana is not a gateway drug and it can actually help opioid addicts kick the habit. The medical industry's answer to the painkiller abuse epidemic was subscribing more pain killers. This has increased abuse and overdose death rates. Turns out, Cannabis is the only real answer.
